In other trending news, it is the huge sendoff of the war veteran and business forum chairperson who passed away recently, his burial was attended with a multitude including high profile ministers, business community and the locals who come to pay their last respect.
Comrade Freedmore Masango who succumbed to prostate cancer recently at the age of 74 was sent off with a multitude as many mourns the great loss to the community due to his philanthropy works in and outside Murambinda.
Speaking at his burial the minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Buhera constituency, described Masango as a patriot and family man who has the community at his heart till death.
“Mr. Masango was a patriotic citizens and his contribution in the liberation struggles said it all and post-independence his services in the ministry of local governance speaks volumes of how patriotic he was , a loving husband and a caring father to his children and the community at large” , he said.
He went on to explain the great loss, the community and province had suffered with his untimely passing on.
Masango family representative, John Masango described his father as a unifier and a caring father who had community at the center of his heart.
“our father was the family unifier who had the community at heart as most of his times was spent in the bus terminus helping the needy with the little he had , he was knowing for offering tutoring young entrepreneurs , giving advice and counselling the youth , we have suffered a great loss as a family and the community “ .
He went on to promise to carry on with his father legacy , “I know our father used to pay tuition fees for the less privileged and help to take care of widows in the area , we are going to continue and honor his good works through a foundation named after him” , he said.
Murambinda war veterans’ charter, chairperson MR. Hungwe described the late Masango as a soft spoken, down to earth being, who was keen to see the progress in this country through unity and empowerment as he was always uplifting and empowering his community
“Freedmore was a man, who always wanted to see the country improving and always encouraged his fellow citizens to support the Government of the day as he always made sure he did that himself.
“He contributed immensely towards the country’s freedom in the liberation struggle and supported the land reform package and was very instrumental in the signing of the Global Settlement Deed, between the Government and mainly white commercial farmers for compensation in Buhera.
“Through him we found peace. The role he played has made a mark. He is gone but his works still move on, but the Masango family is always going to be part of the nation’s history because of their father’s contribution.
As the war veterans, we are with you in this moment of sorrow,” said Mr. Hungwe.
Many locals bemoans the good deeds and appreciated his work and described the late as a straight forward businessman who was ready to empower and uplift his fellow citizens.
Mr. Masango survived by his wife , 5 children and 7 grandchildren at the time of death , he succumbed to prostate cancer in South Africa where he was being treated for some time and was buried in his rural home at Betera .
